Passionate about sustainabilityMontigny commits significant resources to sustainable forestry practices, developing local enterprise, and giving generously to social responsibility projects.
BulembuMontigny’s founder also co-founded Bulembu, a former mining town that has been transformed into a home for more than 350 orphaned and vulnerable children. Montigny plays an active role in the town’s commercial enterprises, as well as the care, education and health of the community.
Wattle Outgrowers Programme
In Southern Africa, wattle (Acacia Mearnsii) is viewed as an invasive specis, which is expensive to control and clear. Montigny not only fells and purchases wattle from local landowners, providing income from what is traditionally an expense, but also trains communities and farmers on how they can turn their wattle jungles into manageable, profitable plantations that provide future gains.
